A world created from your imagination

Hello, I’m Pinn, an illustrator that draws warmth in the cold, depicting places that aren’t in front of your eyes, but are alive in your imagination.

A story you want to share

With people who love painting

When I first started painting, I was a coward.

I was scared of what to do if the lines were not properly drawn, what to do if I painted in the wrong color, what to do if it turns out strange, etc.

However, as I learned from the basics step by step, I changed the parts I was afraid of into parts that are easy and fun to draw, and after a lot of trial and error, drawing became fun and I’m not afraid anymore.

So no one is lost anymore

I think there are a lot of people who think about the same things that I did while drawing. In this class, I would like to take the time to help you overcome your fears and share the tips I learned to draw a great illustration.

What are some of the things you like?

Before I create, I have a lot of worries about what to draw. The longer you worry, the more vague your picture feels and the narrower your scope of thought becomes, making it more and more difficult to draw.

Clear up your blurry imagination

The first thing you need to think about when you have these concerns is, “What are some of my favorite things?” I think that painting is a great way to create a new world by adding your imagination and colors to ideas that you like, landscapes, situations, etc. Whatever you like best, I will do my best to help you express with confidence and without hesitation :)

Building the basics with drawing characters

When starting something new, it is most important to learn the basics first. Step by step, step by step, you need to build the basics and find out what you can do best.

Learn about the basic human body and muscles needed for drawing character illustrations. After drawing the skeleton and simply drawing each human body part, practice drawing a natural human body by adding details step by step. I will briefly teach you about the human body with a lesson on muscles and help you master the process of drawing natural body lines.

In addition, I will help you understand and change the basic shapes of the human body easily by drawing the hands and feet, which are important parts of the human body, in the simplest way possible, and by using the deforme technique to create your own character. Once you know the basics, you can draw more textured characters and make drawing faster and more effective.

Find inspiration from any material

I’ll show you how to find inspiration from the world around you and design your own character. Let's create an in-depth picture together with an object that can show your character's personality and mood with your own feeling and style.

Character illustration using various Photoshop functions

I mainly work with Photoshop when creating illustrations. It is a program that allows you to draw rich illustrations with various texture brushes with convenient functions for photo editing and color correction.

Using the color correction function, you can color your line drawings to enrich the colors of your drawing and further create your own color. I will introduce Photoshop's gradient map function, and how to express the mood and atmosphere of the painting in a more colorful way while using colors directly.

Furthermore, while drawing and coloring the face, I will help you gradually understand how to capture the shapes of the face and the expression of light and shadows on it. Also, I will tell you how to create a custom brush that fits your coloring style. In addition, I will help you draw a more comfortable and unique picture by showing you various Photoshop tools and how to use them when drawing illustrations.

Drawing a background that enriches the picture

Just by drawing a background that matches the character's features and situation, your illustration becomes much richer. When working with the background, you can compose a more interesting and magnificent screen by working with dots, lines, and texture elements.

A background using nature is drawn by setting the time to match the situation. Take a look around what natural materials are available and set a time zone to depict different atmospheres. Learn how to express different times of the same place, and learn how to complete an illustration using various layer correction methods that harmonize characters and backgrounds.

I will teach you to create objects and materials, themes and concepts filled with your taste and personality when drawing, and arrange characters and objects to create an illustration with the atmosphere and feel you want. Through this process, you can draw a detailed picture with a story.

The goal of the class is to complete an illustration with a textured background to bring the image you planned to life, the way you imagined it. I would like all of my students to feel the joy of completing a rich and full illustration by putting together various lines, shapes, and points and line elements.

Create your fantasy world.

Digital drawing with Pinn.

Step 01 : Using Photoshop and tablets

This class will focus on using a tablet and Photoshop to draw. Learn how to configure your settings and use them to create digital illustrations. Also, I’ll show you how you can create your own brushes.

Step 02 : Drawing Characters

Understanding the parts of the body are vital to creating beautiful characters. Learn about the structure of muscles, bones, and the natural curves of the body, then create your own character, including how to give your character clothes.

Step 03 : Adding Light and Contrast

Light and contrast will give your illustrations more depth. I’ll show you how to draw detailed faces and color them using gradient maps.

Step 04 : Drawing Illustrations in Your Own Style

After practicing with me, you’ll find that your own style will start to shine through. Get away from the basic grid and learn how to draw using your own grid.

Step 05 : Drawing a Background and Objects

I’ll show you how to design characters based on various objects, then I’ll help you draw a background around your character and objects and harmonize them into an illustration.

Step 06 : Drawing with Deforme

The deforme technique is a technique that emphasizes certain aspects of a character and exaggerates them. Learn how to express your characters in a comically simple and fun way.

Step 07 : Complete an Illustration

I’ll help you complete an entire illustration, step by step. From setting a concept and theme, to filling the screen in with colors, I’ll help you apply everything you’ve learned into an illustration.

Artist Pinn

@pinn_ovo

Hello, I’m Pinn, an illustrator and your instructor.

I draw with the thought of making illustrations that make me stop and admire. I want my illustrations to make me take time to live and think about going on an adventure and meeting new people in a place that I have never imagined before.

I love my fans, who are always imagining a new story by looking at the pictures I've drawn. Thank you to everyone who talks about the things they think of when they see my illustrations and finds new stories as well. These thoughts and stories become my inspiration and help me gain strength.

I started my job as an illustrator in 2017. While working on web novel covers, I have also been teaching a few online classes since 2018. I am so happy that I can be of some help to those who have the same concerns. Since I teach a lot, I am also learning a lot

I am looking forward to seeing how Class101 will teach me something new.

I hope to become an illustrator who draws fun pictures while continually imagining new adventures.

Thank you so much.

Q. I don't have Photoshop. Do I have to use Photoshop?

A. For drawing-related classes, even if you don't have Photoshop, it's okay if you only have the tools you need for drawing. However, since I am going to teach you how to use Photoshop's various functions and how to make your own Photoshop brushes, I recommend that you purchase Photoshop and take classes.

Q. I'm curious about finding the coloring method and brush settings that suit me!

A. In this class, I prepared a lesson for how to make the Photoshop watercolor brush that I mainly use and express unique textures. I would like to help you find a coloring method that suits you and while making your own brush for some personalized coloring, I would like to show you how you can easily use it.

Q. What can I do if the picture is not coming out well?

A. When you draw, sometimes the picture doesn’t come out the way you want. I tend to focus on why the picture is not turning out the way I want. If I draw forcibly, and start to dislike drawing, I’ll let go of the pen for a while and spend time doing other things that I like, and then draw again when I want to. When the technical parts, drawings or forms are not well-formed, I tend to work on my skills by studying croquis or the fundamentals again rather than taking a break from drawing. If the color is difficult to grasp, I tend to catch the sense of colors by observing famous paintings, images, movies, etc. of various colors. There is a reason why the picture is not drawn in an instant. I think it would be good to find the reason why the picture is not coming out the way you want and rest or study.

Q. What Photoshop version and tablet do you use?

A. I use the CS6 version of Photoshop, and a Wacom ctl490.
