Digital painting has never been more convenient to create than on the iPad. I will teach you how to paint portraits using the Procreate app using all the tools, tips and tricks I taught myself.
Step 02 : Practice through specific activities
I will teach you to draw anatomically and proportionally accurate heads and facial features through specific activities you will upload to get personal pointers and artistic guidance from me.
Step 03 : Learn how I do light, shadow, and coloring
Next we will move into more detailed ways of how I use light, shadow and coloring to capture the character of the subjects I paint by showing you the specific brushes and modes in Procreate.
Step 04 : Draw full portraits with me step by step
You will follow along each step of the way of doing a full portrait painting with me as I point out the most important parts of my process and try to help you cultivate your own personal style.
Step 05 : Make portraits all on your own
I will teach you everything you need from finding sources for inspiration to considering what will make a good reference photo so that you can go out into the world and make portraits all on your own!

Hi, I’m Joshua, a self-taught artist based in the Philippines. Since I was a child I was fascinated with cartoon characters and drawing them. All it was back then was a hobby, but I realized it could be so much more.
In 2015, I made a new year’s resolution to draw everyday in the hopes of getting better, a habit I have kept ever since. Everyday, for the past five years I have been practicing from the fundamentals, to experimenting and finding my own style. I started from nothing and learned through online tutorials, books, and studying from other artists.
Now I work as a freelance character illustrator and have worked on illustrations for book covers, movie posters and concept art for international TV series. I have put together this class to summarise all those years of learning into one course.
This course will teach you how to use different tools likes "digital brushes," "palettes," and "blending options" in the Procreate app. I will help you adjust your app settings to optimize your drawing experience.
